random shot

Hi,

just for fun I took ten pictures in my guppyroom before feeding. The best two you can see here:

Albino Topsword Action! (above)

Some Blue Galaxys and two Blue Leopard (Attention : This are no Blue Grass!) waiting for food.
Both types are heterozygous for Asian Blue (=> r²R²) ... remember the "Red to Blue Cheat"!

Thanks, Tobi. I always love seeing what you are up to with your guppies. I hope that perhaps some time you will show us your whole array of tanks, with some explanatory text.

Hi tobi,

Its really cool and awesome when a shoal of guppies swim up to the tank during feeding. I was wondering, what is the number of breeders you normally use and the size of the tanks you house the breeders in. It seems that you have many breeders for the strains you breed.

Shi Xuan

Hi,

every strain needs another management. Usually I use tanks between 20 am 40 litres to breed. The breeders and the ark-strains, which are non-showbreed-strains, and also the wildguppies are housed in 12 litre tanks.
I have two ark-strains to save the two basecolors Light Blue and European Blue. EB is contained in a doublerecessive basecolored white strain.
From time to time I leave only a few Youngsters, a good pregnant female or a small group of adults in this tank. The other will be feed to my Channa. So I control the population.

In my show-strains I work various. Sometimes I use only one pair to breed sometimes a small group of them. Sometimes one male and some females sometimes a few pairs.

The albino Topswords on this picture I will take to the next show in Berlin, I wont breed with them. For the next generation I matched only one female of this litter to a grey Japan Blue to get basecolored greys. The fry is now 3 weeks old.
